Wide spread condemnation of Sopore incident continues | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 2: The anger over the gruesome killing of two sisters in Sopore has refused to die down even after two days of the incident. The separatist leaders sitting in the cozy environs of their fortified houses are coming under extreme pressure to condemn the massacre of innocent girls from all sides. Apart from Kashmir even the political leaders in Jammu are extremely angry with the muted silence adopted by the separatists. Condemning the shocking incident, Pradesh Congress Committee President Prof. Saifuddin Soz, in a press statement issued here today said, “It is heart rending to see two innocent teenage girls of a poor family in Sopore (Kashmir) getting massacred by terrorists. It is, indeed, a crime against humanity!” The J&K Government must use all means to get hold of the heartless marauders and punish them severely for the crime they have committed. “I strongly urge the people of Kashmir to rise as one man against terrorism and see that all goons with arms are brought to book.” Soz said “I welcome the statement by all sections of condemning this crime and its perpetrators. At this juncture of great tragedy not only for the devastated family in Sopore (Kashmir), but for the entire Jammu and Kashmir, I urge the state government to take urgent measures to rehabilitate the family as best as it can”, he added Expressing shock over the killing of the girls, the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) said that the incident is not only condemnable but has raised many vital issues about the role of different parties and organisations including Hurriyat, PDP, NC, Congress and others. Prof Bhim Singh, Chairman, National Panthers Party has condemned in unequivocal words outrageous assassination of two innocent girls in Kashmir. Panthers Party Chief called on the people of Kashmir in particular to rise to the occasion to condemn this kind of terror which has threatened the lives of even teenagers in the Valley because their exists no government, no rule of law and no security except for the echelons of power and bureaucrats. Prof Bhim Singh urged Governor to dismiss the existing non-performing government of two opportunists’ parties namely, Congress and NC. The Panthers Party Chief called on the party activists all over the State to observe a state mourning tomorrow in memory of the two assassinated daughters and called on all political groups and members of the civil society to condemn such a brutal act which has left a black scar on the face of Kashmiriat. Pradesh Youth Congress President Shoaib Nabi Lone has condemned the killing of two sisters. Besides rehabilitation and ex-gratia to the family, he also demanded immediate action to nab the culprits. Congress leader Rajesh Gupta has also strongly condemned the killing of the two sisters, and said it is a most inhuman crime by the militants. Leader of Shiv Sena (Thackrey) Ashok Gupta led a silent protest march wearing black tags on their mouth and holding placards demanding action against the perpetrators of the heinous crime. Socialistic Democratic Party (SDP) has also condemned the killing of the girls. "Where are the leaders who lead agitations every now and then," asked SDP Chief Dr Darakshan Andrabi. "Their silence speaks of their criminal bent of mind. A murder is a murder and no body can be given a licence to kill". She asked the government to shun the politics of issuing sympathy statements and use its police force to arrest the killers and their patrons.
