Science drama festival concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 2: A five day long training workshop on Science Communication through Folk Media concluded here today at Government Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu. The workshop was jointly organized by Students Welfare Society Anantnag J&K and GGM Science Collage Jammu in association with NCSTC (Deptt of Science & Technology, Govt of India). The basic objective of the training workshop was to encourage the students, teachers, and other science communicators to explore and experiment with the dramatic form as a means of communication. Theatre & Drama is an old age cultural form of communication in our society, which has been used all through not only for entertainment or recreation but also as a medium of social interaction. Nearly ten degree colleges from Jammu participated and developed the scripts on the themes like food adulteration, superstitious, health & sanitation , disaster management, Science for society , biodiversity of Jammu & Kashmir and presented them in a dramatic form to spread the message of Science. Prof M S Baloria Principal of the college, HODs of various degree collages, representatives from Science & technology, Aijaz Ahmad vice chairman SWS students, teachers, and common masses were present during the valedictory function. The street plays of Govt. GGM Science College, Govt. Women’s College Parade, Govt. Degree College Bishnah, Degree College Paloura and Aknoor were judged as the best street plays with scientific content by the panel of judges.
