NPSU protests “discrimination” against Jammu region | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 2: Continuing its struggle against State Govt for “step motherly” treatment with Jammu region, National Panther Students Union (NPSU) held a massive protest demonstration against National Conference led coalition government. The protest was held at Shaheedi Sthal, GGM Science College Jammu to show their resentment against the alleged poor distribution of funds to promote tourism in the State. Coming heavily on the state government, Partap Singh Jamwal (NPSU leader) said that figures of the distribution of funds are highly shocking for the Jammuties as centre govt. as well as State Govt. are hell bent to appease the Kashmiris by sanctioning thousands of crores rupees for valley ignoring the Jammu region. He said that Rs 1100 crores has been sanctioned for development of Dal Lakes. Rupees 350 crores for Wular lake has been sanctioned by the Centre Government ignoring the tourist places of Jammu region such as Mansar Lake, Sanasar Lake. He said that according to official figures 90 lakhs tourist visited Jammu region last year which include Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims whereas only 10 lakh tourists visited Kashmir valley last year out of which 4.5 lakhs tourists were Amarnath Yatries.
