| Rehman assails Mufti for raking up Self-Rule issue at UN | | | JAMMU NOV-09 Taking strong exception to the outburst of the former Chief Minister and PDP Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayed advocating Self Rule and demilitarization in Jammu and Kashmir, the former MP and President State Unit of the Samajwadi Party Sheikh Abdul Rehman has asked the Centre to take due cognizance of the utterances of Mufti. He questioned as to who deputed him to UN to head a non- official delegation and what brief he was given by the Central leadership before leaving for UN. Addressing party workers here today, Rehman expressed surprise over raking up non-issues by Mufti and said that he (Mufti) did not hesitate to raise issue of ‘Self-Rule’ and ‘Demilitarization’ advocated by Pak President and wondered as to whom Mufti represented there and questioned is it not a conspiracy to muster support for Mushraf’s formula. Commenting on the much publicized war against corruption, the SP leader counseled Chief Minister that if he is really interested to eradicate corruption from the administration, he should first prone the departments directly under his charge. Rehman said that SP is a secular and democratic party and has been fighting for the cause of the poor and down- trodden. He asked the party activists to strengthen the party at the grass roots level and carry forward its lofty ideals to the people adding that the party is committed to fulfill the missionary cause of Dr Ram Mahohar Lohia and Lok Nayak J P Narayan. A party hand out claimed that several prominent persons along with their hundreds of supporters joined the party on the occasion who included Vijay Bijyal, Devinder Kumar, Sameer Singh, Vijay Singh and Dinesh Negi.
