Women’s College Parade organizes workshop | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 2: Department of Computer Sciences of Government College for Women, Parade, organized a workshop-cum- seminar in collaboration with Indian Linux Users Group Jammu and Jetking Ltd. Principal of the College Dr Kiran Bakshi was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Govind Sharma Northern head of Jetking elaborated future scope in Hardware assembling and networking and what are the various career options that are available in the market. The expert from Jetking showed the live demo of various computer parts like mother board processor, RAM etc and also displayed how computer can be assembled. Amit Sharma and Vishal Salgotra from Indian Linux Users Group Jammu dwell in length about the use of free and open source software especially in education field. They apprised the students about software freedom and GNU Linux system and described the concept of FOSS ,GPL and Open source code. Prof Roopali in her introductory note welcomed the chief guest and experts from Jetking and Indian Linux Users Group Jammu. She told students that in this era of IT the world has become a small networked village where one can gain maximum advantage, but the only criteria is one needs to have proper guidance and education. Earlier, Principal Dr Kiran Bakshi welcomed the experts from various fields to the college. She said that this lecture will be very helpful to students as they will get first hand information of the various software options available in the market and the basic know-how of computer assembling.
