Chopra murder case: CMP filed for withdrawal of LPA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 2 : In a much publicized Chopra family murder case, Puneet Chopra, son of Late RB Chopra has filed an application for withdrawal of letters patent appeal (LPA) which is pending in the High Court ,Jammu Wing on the ground that in view of the subsequent developments and further directions for completion of investigation expeditiously by newly constituted Special Investigating Team headed DIG Jammu under the supervision of High Court. In the withdrawal application it has been submitted that a newly constituted SIT headed by DIG Jammu was very near to arrest the real culprits. With these developments, high hope and faith has been created in the mind of the appellant that finally justice will come to them and as such the applicant has no desire of getting the present case referred to CBI, which, if referred at this stage, shall rather scuttle the process and the conspirators who are supposedly highly placed persons may again go scot-free. It is worthwhile to mention here in the LPA which was filed against the judgment of Single Judge by virtue of which the prayer of the appellant for referring the investigation of case FIR No 107/2006 registered with P/S Bahu-Fort Jammu to CBI has not been acceded to, that as a matter of record, the state Govt did refer the case to CBI for investigation, however, the CBI did not except the case terming the case to be a local issue.
