| Two migrant students held for raping minor | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 02:
Two migrant students were today arrested by police at Nagrota camp for allegedly raping a minor who lived in their neighbourhood.The accused -- Sumit Bhat and Rakesh Raina -- allegedly raped the girl continuously for over a month, police sources said.
"The girl, who lives in their neighbourhood, is a 9th class student," the sources added.
As the accused were well acquainted with the girl, they asked her to come with them for a walk over a month back. She agreed as she felt comfortable with them.
Sources said while roaming, when they reached an isolated place, the youth allegedly outraged her modesty in roadside bushes.On their way back home, they threatened her of dire consequences in case she discussed the matter with anyone at home, the sources
added.When the girl did not open her mouth against them, they got encouraged and allegedly raped her almost daily by intimidating and blackmailing her. They used to take her to secluded places at Nagrota, sources said.
Though she kept silent for over a month, she today discussed the matter with her parents who then lodged a report with the Nagrota police station.Acting on the complaint, police raided the residences of the accused at Nagrota migrants' camp and arrested them.
The girl was also taken by police to hospital for her medical examination. Police had booked the accused in a rape case.
