BJP's double standard; it is right for it to comdemn killings in Kashmir but not in Jammu

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 02:
BJP seems to have got double standard. It is right for the party to comdemn killings in Kashmir but not in Jammu.
The following two incidents throw light on the party's "principles of discrimination" in the state's two regions.
The remote Gulabgarh village of Paddar, Kishtwar, was on the boil over the mysterious missing of Sapna (17) and Sangeeta (18) after their police torture on July 13 last. Though violent protests rocked Gulabgarh, no BJP leader had uttered a single word to condemn the incident.
Over six months have passed and the girls are still untraced, but the "pro-Jammu" BJP and other such organisations have not thought of taking up the issue with the government to find out their traces without any further delay.
Their poor parents do not have enough money to travel to Jammu with a plea to the higher authorities.
On the other side, BJP was quick in condemning the yesterday's killings of Kulsuma (19) and Yasmeen (17) by militants at Shopian in Kashmir.
ET is not against the BJP, or any other party comdemning this incident. The only concern is that they ought to come in the support of those also who do not have anybody to speak for them to the higher authorities.Et also comdemns the Sopore killings in strongest words with a demand to the government to protect innocent citizens from the
gun-totting militants.
In a statement issued here today, BJP spokesperson Ramesh Arora described the incident as brutal and also assailed human rights activists for not condemning the killings.Sapna and Sangeeta, both 12th class students of a Gulabgarh school, were detained by Gulabgarh police on July 13 last year. Their fault: They had dared to sit with their classmate Pradeep Kumar alias Ramu on the bank of river Chenab that flows through Paddar area.Despite violent protests and assurances by divisional commissioner and IGP, who had visited Gulabgarh to defuse the tension, the girls
remained untraced till date. No special investigation team was formed to search them out. Reason: They are the siblings of the people with no political clout.
The BJP pro-Jammu think-tanks need to do a self-introspection and find out if they really are the voice of the poor and down-trodden in the state. What to talk of BJP, even Congress needs to speak for even those
people who do not form its vote bank. This was the right time that while condemning the Sopore killings of
the two girls, both BJP and Congress must raise the issue of the missing of two Gulabgarh girls so that their families got justice.
