Display Your Talent: Mime, Mimic events organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 3: Under the Ongoing “Display Your Talent” 2010-11, the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, organized Mime, Mimicry and Mono-Acting Events at Brig Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. In Mime, a team from Cosmic College of Education, Lakhanpur, bagged the first prize whereas team from GGM Science College, Jammu and Department of Physics and Electronics, University of Jammu, were adjudged as the second and third, respectively. The lone certificate of merit was awarded to the team from Government Women College, Parade. The actions speak louder than the words, this was depicted by the young participants in their Mime presentations on various themes such as “Population Explosion”, “Terrorism”, “Dowry” and “Discrimination against the Girl Child” etc. In Mimicry, only two prizes were awarded i. e Sarang Vaid from the Department of Computer Science and I.T, University of Jammu bagged the Third Prize and Certificate of Merit was given to Rani Kumari from Department of Botany, University of Jammu. Jia Lal Sharma, Digvijay Singh, Sh. Ravi Gupta, Dr. Jagdish Mehra and Priya Raina, were the adjudicators for the events. Dr Yash Pal, Teacher Incharge welcomed the guests and briefed the participants about the rules and regulations whereas Shivali Rani, compeered the programme. Prof Dhian. S. Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, was the chief guest and distributed the prizes amongst the winners. In his address, Prof. Bhau suggested to hold some of the events in the muffasal colleges, as well. The programme was conducted under the supervision of Vijay Atri. Among others Gagandeep Sharma, Secretary, Students Cultural Council, Renu Rani and Baljit Kour, were also present.
