BJP leader condemns police action against agitating employees
2/3/2011 9:42:28 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU Feb 3 : Expressing concern over the use of police against the agitating employees in Jammu, by BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas today said the government which can not meet the genuine demands of its few lakh employees, can’t be expected of mitigating the sufferings of population comprising of more than one crore twenty lakh people in the state.
He said in a democracy-it is government of the people, for the people and by the people- but unfortunately in J&K it has been witnessed that it is the government of few people, government for few people and government by few people.
Manhas said that it has become a matter of routine for Omar Abdullah government to misuse the police to supress any voice which is raised by any individual, organisation or association against the discrimination, injustice and step motherly treatment. He said the employees of different departments have been agitating for their genuine demands and by doing so they are not indulging in any criminal activity or causing any communal and social problem.
Manhas said that the demands like release of arrears of 6th Pay Commission, regularisation of daily wagers who have been putting their services since 1994, removal of pay anomolies and release of 10 per cent DA are genuine and any people-friendly and employees- friendly government will never hesitate in conceding them. Here in J&K, the attitude of the government so far has been anti-employees and it has always adopted supressive measures to silence the voice of employees.
Manhas advised the State Chief Minister not to act as dictator and treat the peace loving, nation loving and democracy respecting people as respectful citizens. He said the voice of the masses can not be suppresed by use of force. The genuine demands should be met with immediately so that normal functioning in the offices resumes, Manhas said and warned that use of brutal force by the state against agitating exployees may result in serious reprecussions.
