Bhalla directs officers to reach weaker sections across J&K on priority | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Jan 3: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla has asked officers to reach weaker sections of the society and mitigate their hardships on priority. Minister warned officers against any laxity with regard to the solving of problems of the poor lot adding that any complaint in this regard would invite strict action against delinquent officers/officials. Minister was addressing a large gathering after laying foundation of lanes and drains at Manhasgarh Mohalla, Last Morh in Bahu Fort, involving a cost of Rs. 6 lakh. Bhalla informed that Rs 23 lakh have been distributed among 23 State Subject homeless urban poor of Bahu Fort, Qasim Nagar and Gangyal for construction of their dwelling units under Basic Services to Urban Poor Scheme (BSUP) and Rs. 2.58 lakh to 172 beneficiaries under National Calamity Relief Fund (NCRF). Minister said that government has earmarked Rs. 55 lakh for construction of cremation ground near Kalika Colony on the right bank of river Tawi. He said that the Government has sanctioned Rs. 3.5 crore for developing the river Tawi embankments near Peer Khoo temple which include construction of parks, tourist reception centre, artificial lake adding that Rs. 90 lakh have been kept for construction of view points and road widening from Bahu Fort to Harki Poudi temple. Later, the Minister also attended a function organized by Guru Gobind Singh Higher Secondary School, Kunjwani. On the occasion, Bhalla released school magazine ‘titled ‘Expressions’. Chairman of the school, Prof. Harbans Singh, Principal S Gurtaz Singh besides teaching, non-teaching staff members and students were present on the occasion.
