Vohra calls for conservation of Basohli fort | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 3: Governor N. N. Vohra, today toured Bani and Basohli areas of Kathua district, visited sites of Sewa hydel projects near Bani and Mashka, interacted with students of Jawahar Navodya Vidyalaya and paid a visit to historic Basohli Fort. Governor and the first lady Usha Vohra, on arrival at Bani from Jammu this morning, were accorded warm reception by the prominent citizens at the Government Higher Secondary School. A brief cultural programme of folk music and dance was organized on the occasion. Principal Secretary to the Governor, R. K. Goyal, staff and students of the School were present on the occasion. Later, Governor arrived at Basohli where he was received by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kathua Zahida Khan, SSP Kathua, J. L. Sharma, other officers of the District Administration and a large number of the local people. Governor visited Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Basohli and interacted with the students, who presented a cultural programme on the occasion. Before returning to Jammu, the Governor visited the now crumbling historic Basohli Fort and stressed the need for all the required measures for conservation of this heritage site being taken on time bound basis. The restoration of this fort and its surroundings will provide added attraction for the visitors.
