| JPPF pressing for appointment of local VC | | Controversy over CU | |

JAMMU, Feb 4: Intensifying its struggle for the appointment of a local academician as Vice-Chancellor of Jammu Central University, Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) has decided to hold torch light protest demonstration on Saturday February 5.
In a handout issued here today, it has been stated that the torch light protest demonstration would be led by Thakur Pavitter Singh Chairman of the forum. Forum has further said that its activists would hold protest demonstration at Samba on February 11. Hailing, the second thought in the Union Ministry for Human Resources Development about the appointment of Prof. Amitabh Mattoo as VC CU Jammu, forum described the development as vindication of its stand and fructification of its movement against the appointment of a person as VC CU Jammu.
The forum has however demanded that the appointment of Prof. Mattoo should be cancelled and announcement in this regard be made by the HRD Ministry at the earliest, to end the uncertainty in the matter. Stressing on early appointment of a local academician as VC as well as taking into hand other steps to make the CU Jammu functional, the forum has said that one more academic session may not be allowed to be lost.
