| Cuts off connections for not paying power bills | | PDD axe falls on defaulters | | Early Times Report
Jammu, : Taking strict steps against the defaulters who are not paying electricity bills, the PDD Division-III Jammu, Sub Division-I Canal cut off 35-40 electricity connections in Vishal, Nagar, Sunder Nagar, Patta Bohri and Talab Tillo in a drive held here today.
The drive to cut offs connections of the defaulters was launched under the supervision of AEE Elect. M&RE Sub Division-I Canal Somnath, JE Surinder, Nitan Verma, Keshav Khajuria, Rasik Bhagat and team.
The Power Development department (PDD) Canal Sub Division I also recovered a fine to the tune of Rs 40,000 on the spot from the defaulters who failed to pay their bills on time and their outstanding amount became more than Rs 5000.
“Instructions has been passed and department asked its men to guard every transmission line or electricity pole where the theft takes place and to check on defaulter”, AEE Somnath said, adding, “they have tightened their laces against the power pilferage”.
Informing about the today’s drive, AEE said, “The drive is especially against the defaulters who utterly ignored the guidelines of the department thus failed to pay their bills on time”. ‘We have cut offs 35-40 electric connection of the defaulter in Vishal Nagar, Sunder Nagar, Patta Bohri, Talab Tillo and recovered fine to the tune of Rs 40,000 on the spot from the defaulter’, he informing, adding, “Due to nonpayment of bills, the outstanding amount of the defaulter are gone in thousands” .
He appealed the people to pay their electricity bills on time and not indulging in power pilferage. He informed that this drive will continue in other parts of the areas falling under Sub Div-I, canal road.
