Track Sopore girls' killers speedily: Chidambaram | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 4 Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram Friday demanded that the killers of two teenaged sisters in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore town be speedily tracked down and given severe punishment. Attending a meeting of the Unified Command here before leaving for Kishtwar to attend a security review, the minister sought the details about the incident and the progress police have made in the case. He said this is a 'litmus test' for the security agencies and such gruesome crimes 'must be tracked and criminals punished', official sources told . Chief Minister Omar Abdullah assured that 'all-out efforts would be made to trace the killers and punish them', an official quoted him as saying at the meeting. The two sisters, Kulsooma and Yasmin, were killed Monday evening after they were forced out of their homes at gunpoint in Muslim Peer area of Sopore town in north Kashmir. Police here said the two sisters had been murdered by guerrilla outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and two of the assassins had already been identified. The LeT , however, has denied involvement and condemned the killings, which they termed the handiwork of government agencies.
