Chidambaram creates doubts in minds of nationalist people: KPs
2/5/2011 9:33:38 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 5: An amalgam of Kashmiri Pandit organizations have alleged that the policies and statements of Home Minister P.Chidambaram has created doubts in the minds of nationalist people in the state about the future policy of the government towards Kashmir.
Joint forum of Kashmiri Pandit Organizations, a group of about six organisations has also resented the remarks made by the Union Home Minister during his visit to the state particularly in context of his statement to grant more concessions to Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference, president Panun Kashmir (PK) Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo said, ‘His repeated statement that the unique problem needs unique solutions in regard to the Kashmir issue has created a number of doubts in the minds of those who have been in the forefront of the struggle to protect national interests in the state’.
Chrungoo said that these remarks have demoralizing effect on those stakeholders of J&K who have treated accession of the state as full, final and irrevocable.
Commenting on review of AESPA and the proposed twenty five percent cut in the troop strength in the state, Chrungoo said, “Since the idea has already been opposed by the Army Chief, it is believed that any concession in the form of dilution of AFSPA and reduction of troops would hamper anti-terrorist operations in the sensitive state”..
On autonomy, he said, “J&K already enjoys more political powers than any other state of the country and granting of more autonomy would further distance tire state from the constitutional reach of the country”.
He mentioned that the displaced Kashmiri Pandit community has been in the forefront of this struggle and would continue to fight its battle with the support of all the nationalist people across the country.
Among others who were present in the press conference included H L Chatta, General Secretary-ASKPC, D N Kissu, Chairman-NCMCC, R K Raina, senior vice President, ASKPC aThe Joint forum of Kashmiri Pandit organisations held a press conference today to address the issues arising out of the statements emanating from various quarters having their effect on the future dispensation of the state and the displaced community of Kashmiri Pandits. The press conference was addressed by S/Shri Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President-Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary-ASKPC, D.N.Kissu, Chairman-NCMCC, R.K.Raina, Sr. Vice President-ASKPC and Virender Raina, National Spokesperson-PK.
