Mega Police Durbar held at Jammu | Khoda stresses for people friendly policing | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 5: Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda today underscored need for transparency in the day-to-day functioning of police to bring about a positive change in the public perception about the force. Khoda was addressing maiden Police Durbar organised by Jammu here held at District Police Lines today in which jawans and officers of all districts of Jammu Province viz. participated. He urged the jawans to serve and provide better police service to the public at all levels. Appreciating role of jawans and officers, DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has demonstrated great valour and courage while fighting the militancy in the State and saved lives and property of the public. He said that police has the primary role in maintaining peace and order in the society and ensure dignity and honour of common man. Khoda asked the jawans and officers that people have pinned lot of hopes with the police to get their grievances redressed and it is prime duty of the police to protect the lives and property while dealing with the situation. Listening to the problems presented to him, the DGP assured that these would be looked into for appropriate action. He asked them to work with zeal and utmost devotion. Earlier, the IGP, Jammu Zone, Dilbag Singh welcomed the DGP and other officers. He said the event helps in sharing expertise for better policing. On the occasion, the DGP handed over the appointment orders to 35 SPOs as Constables and Followers. 5 Constables have been given out of turn promotion as Selection Grade Constables and 1 Selection Grade Constable promoted as Head Constable.
