Cong will be at receiving end over UPA Govt's proposed solution to Kashmir issue | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 5: The Congress will be at receiving end on UPA Government's proposed solution to Kashmir and Chief Minister, P Chidambaram who wound up his two days visit to state yesterday has come to a sharp criticism for asking his Partymen to give a road map for solution to Kashmir problem. Expressing their dismay over the role of UPA Government on Kashmir issue the nationalistic people in the state have warned it that any decision to accept autonomy, self rule, demilitarization or withdrawal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) will prove suicidal. The BJP and other organizations of Sangh Parivar have not only cautioned the Congress against its proposed decision on Kashmir but also have asked the nationalist people to resist such a move strongly. According to sources the RSS has asked all its affiliated organizations to resist the Government move strongly in case any decision was taken to grant autonomy or self rule to J&K state making it clear that the clock can't be reversed. The Sangh has also taken serious exception to the visit of Union Home Minister for specifically reviewing the security situation of only five districts in the state and not touching the Kashmir Valley which has been the center -stage for Pak sponsored terrorists activities, sources added. Sources said RSS has expressed its dismay over the manner in which the Union Home Minister was dealing the Kashmir situation and his recent statements on troops reduction or any possible solution to Kashmir issue was not acceptable to Sangh and its affiliates. Sources said already various nationalist organizations who believe that Kashmir is an integral part of India and its accession with Union of India is final have warned the Centre for showing its lenient approach towards the Musharraf formula saying that prove inimical to India's unity and sovereignty. Apprehending that the Government may take a decision on troops withdrawal from the militancy infested districts of Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar sources said that such a decision will create sense of insecurity among the minorities in these districts who have already suffered a heavy loss through the hands of terrorists. If Government is so satisfied that the security situation has really improved in the state then why it does not withdraw the security of ministers and other VVIPs in the state on which a huge amount is being spent, said a senior VHP leader from the state. Ridiculing the Government claims that the militancy is on wane in the state, he said then why during the visit of ministers to far flung areas in the state, the entire area is being cordoned for hours together. So on what basis the Government claims the situation has improved in the state. Criticizing the UPA Government for being soft towards the demands of autonomy or self rule as advocated for by NC And PDP respectively, the sources said BJP has already sent a word of caution to Union Government in this regard saying that the clock can't be reversed. Same has been the views of the VHP, and J&K Peoples Front and KP organizations as well as some Jammu based non BJP organisations. Ridiculing the Union Government's possible solution on Kashmir, a Bajrang Dal leader asked the Congress that before hobnobbing with NC on grant of autonomy to the state, it should publicly admit that overthrowing the Sheikh Abdullah regime in 1953 that gave momentum to plebiscite movement and which was the root cause of present turmoil in Kashmir was a wrong decision. Besides the Party should also candidly admit that the overthrowing of successive Governments in Kashmir since 1953 and installation of puppet Governments by Congress in the state were the main cause of present crisis in Kashmir, he added. He said the Congress since 1947 committed blunders in Kashmir and it changed its policies from time to time to keep the party interests in view while ignoring the larger national interests. |
