Tarigami condemns killing of innocents in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 6: CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA Kulgam has strongly denounced killing of a 21- year old man allegedly in an army ambush in Handwara. He also condemned the brutal killing of two sisters in Sopore last week, terming the incident gross violation of human rights violations with no place in civilized societies. In a statement issued here today, Tarigami asked government to take stern measures for bringing killers to justice. “Killing of innocents is worst form of human rights violations which must be resisted strongly”, he said. Tarigami added that it was very unfortunate that Kashmiris continue to lose their young population despite popular government in place. He said that government must not act as a mute spectator to this heinous scene of death and destruction rather it should move fast to identify the killers and bring them to justice. Mere condemnation of the incident is not solution to the problem, he said. “The oft repeated claims of tall leaders of the country and the State regarding zero tolerance to human rights violations must be translated into action”, he said calling for taking appropriate steps to punish the culprits perpetrating atrocities. He demanded exemplary punishment to the offenders to avoid recurrence of such incidents. Any negligence in this regard will be criminal; he remarked and called for coordinated efforts to stem the rot.
