Natrang stages Hindi play ‘MAA’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 6: Written by noted Punjabi playwright Balwant Gargi and directed by Neeraj Kant, Natrang today staged another new play “MAA” in its weekly theatre series ‘Sunday Theatre’. Set at the rural Punjab, the play unveils tragedy of a mother who loses three sons. This harsh reality of contemporary times opens with a mother narrating her tragedy of losing two of his sons. As women, she had a dream like most of mothers that when she will grow old, her sons will share load of domestic needs and she will lead a comfortable life. Her struggle and hardships will be over by the time her sons will attain maturity and start taking over the responsibilities. Her daughter-in-laws will blossom her place with their youthful humming and she will lead her later life like a Queen. But the destiny had stored the opposite for her. The decorations welcoming the new bride were still intact at her place but the newly wedded opted to abandon her mother-in law citing her being too harsh to them. Renu Sharma as ‘MAA’ stole show. She should be complimented for her powerful acting and command over forceful emotional outbursts. She was supported by yet very talented actors which included Rahul Singh, Niharika Sharma and Mohammed Yaseen. Pawan Verma did the lighting whereas Neeraj Kant scored the music. Sumeet Sharma coordinated the show.
