Restore autonomy to J&K cultural academy, demands literary organisations | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 6: Impressing upon the state government to formulate comprehensive Programme to develop regional Cultures and languages, two leading literary organisations of Jammu and Kashmir representing Kashmiri and Dogri today sought Chief Minister’s intervention to restore autonomy of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). Representatives of Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) while addressing a joint Press Conference here at Press Club Jammu today expressed strong resentment and dissatisfaction over the functioning of different state institutions for development of regional cultures. They said that state academy is a major cultural institution of state and is facing acute financial crunch due to officialdom. They appealed Chief Minister to take immediate step and direct Department of Culture in civil secretariat to release all developmental funds to Cultural Academy pending with them since May 2010 as all nine regional languages upliftment programmes are suffering. Prof. Lalit Magotra, President Dogri Sanstha and Dr. Aziz Hajini President AMK while speaking on behalf of Dogri and Kashmiri languages respectively expressed deep anger over denying the financial support to State Academy unwillingly hampering the developmental activities of all regional languages and culture of Jammu and Kashmir.
