| Chairman suspends 3 councilors | | | Sopore, Baramulla, Nov 10 Chairman Municipal Council Sopore today suspended three councilors after they were allegedly fond involved in extending undue favour to some business men in respect of allotting shops to them. Chairman Municipal Council Sopore Ghlum Rasool Dar in press conference held at Dakbanglow Sopore, said that the three corrupt councilors were suspended from there duties, because they were involved in taking bribe from the common men promising them government jobs after taking money. It was also stated that trio accused namely Arshid Ahmad Shala (Former vice president) Ali Mohd Tali and Ghulam Mohd hit the headlines when they where alleged of taking money from the businessmen for providing them shops in the main market belonging to municipal council Sopore. The accuse councilors have been charged for taking handsome booty of more then ten lack rupees from the aspirants. The Sopore municipal Chairman also said that when he took the charges of municipal council Sopore which according to him was under the debit of 75 lacks of which 80 % have been paid by the council. “It is very unfortunate that our first press conference is for an awful action taken against the corrupt councilors rather it should have been for something good from our side." Dar told News Agency of Kashmir “I was asked to pay 30000 rupees for providing a shop in main market in the shopping complex of MC Sopore.” a businessman. Abdul Gaffar Dar told NAK Other councilors who spoke on the occasion also applauded the decision taken by the chairman against the corruption. |
