Cong unable to prepare document on Kashmir resolution | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 7: Two factions of the state unit of Congress are yet to prepare a document listing viable solutions to the Kashmir conflict. The suggestion for preparing such a document had been given by union Home Minister P.Chidambaram during his recent visit to Jammu. During his interaction with leaders of the two factions, Chidambaram suggested them to prepare document which could help the government in preparing roadmap for the resolution of the problem. A senior Congress leader, belonging to the camp of Soz loyalists said that "we are yet to apply our mind to the assignment given to us by Chidambaram."Another leader said that since the job given to "us" by the union Home Minister was very sensitive, it needed time and some strategy. He said that before preparing the document, they would have to interact with prominent constitutional experts and political analysts. He said that party would set up a committee for drafting the document and while doing so will take into account aspirations and problems of people of all the three regions of Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu. Congress leaders also stated that "our document will cover problems and demands of people of all the three regions besides lying emphasis on nature of political arrangement that was required for addressing unrest in the state.” Party leaders stated that there are certain aspects of political and security developments that call for amendment in the state constitutions so that whatever wrong had happened was undone. Party leaders said that after preparing the document, they would have to find out whether it is to be submitted to the Union Home Minister or to Congress high command. They added that state units of congress are supposed to route any document or memoranda to the centre .
