Public darbar held at Chenani

UDHAMPUR, Feb 6:- To take stock of the problems being faced by the people of Chenani tehsil of district Udhampur, Member Parliament, Lal Singh accompanied by District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed Khan convened a public darbar at Chenani today.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, R.R. Sharma, Executive Engineers of PWD, PHE, PDD, Tehsildar, Chenani, Officers of various departments, prominent citizens and people in large number were present on the occasion.
The public putforth various demands of the area which included provision of local employment in the construction work of tunnel from Mada, construction of Marta road, construction of foot bridge over Toldi Nallah, Construction of Kendriya Vidyalaya building at Chenani, opening of ITI & Degree College, construction of Gondola Project at Kud, electrification of village Vinaik etc.
Lal Singh asked the General Manager, Lighten Corp. Ltd to engage local unemployed youths on priority basis. Responding to the public demands, he asked Executive Engineer PWD to prepare a detailed project report for the construction of foot bridge over Toldi Nallah.
The MP said that with the execution of Gondola project at Kud after clearance from Forest and Environment department, the local unemployed people of the area would get employment. This would definitely raise the socio economic status of the poor people of this belt besides the project would also promote tourism industry in the area, Mr. Singh added. He said that efforts are being made to bring the famous Sudhmahadev and Mantalie on the tourist map for boosting pilgrim tourism in the area.
Earlier, Singh unfurled National Flag in the premises of Govt. Higher Secondary School, Chenani. Skits and cultural programme were also presented by the students of various Schools on the occasion which was highly liked by the audience.
He also released an Urdu book written by Dr. Mustaq Wani and felicitated the meritorious students of the Chenani tehsil.
