Govt fails to protect lives of citizens: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Feb 6: Condemning gruesome killing of a 21-year old youth Manzoor Ahmed Magrey at the hands of the Army in Chogal village of Kupwara district, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti today regretted that coalition regime headed by Omar Abdullah has failed to control killing of innocent civilians at the hands of the security forces. In a statement issued here today, Mehbooba Mufti said that cold blooded murder of a one more youth has exposed claims of the State Government because except promises this regime has done nothing to control such incidents. “Killing of innocent has been going unabated and the government has been brazenly indulged into farcical tactics”, she observed. Mehbooba regretted it is unfortunate that while the count of dead, mostly youngsters keeps mounting but the government is busy in deceiving people in the name of filing FIR’s. “Over 120 innocent persons have been killed by the security forces during the last some months but action has not taken any person so far”, she said and added that they way government is responding to such cold blooded murder reflects its insensitivity towards the human tragedies. She said chaos and anarchy in the state in general and Kashmir Valley in particular are unprecedented and ruling dispensation is content with enjoying frills of power without any accountability for continuing killings and atrocities. Pointing towards gruesome murder of Manzoor Ahmed Magrey on late Friday night, she said that it this killing adds to the list of tragedies the people of Kashmir has suffered at the hands of this insensitive and heartless regime. “It seems that this regime has become completely immune to the atrocities it is inflicting on the people”, she observed. PDP chief also condemned Sopore incident in which two teenager girls were killed by some unidentified persons. She termed the incident as inhuman and emphasized that killing of innocent civilians must be stopped at any cost. PDP chief pointed out that during the last two years about half a dozen females have been killed by unidentified “gunmen” but not even a single culprits has been brought to book so far. “Incidents of the killing of females reflects sense of insecurity and vulnerability among the womenfolk”, she observed and added that State Government has failed to inculcate a sense of security among the people of the State.
