| NC warns security forces against disturbing peace in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 7: Senior NC leader and MLC Muhammad Rashid Qureshi has warned security forces against disturbing fragile peace in Kashmir by killing innocent people. Condemning the killing of 22 year student by the soldiers of 4 Para in Kupwara, Rashid Qureshi described it cold blooded murder of innocent youth.
Qureshi said it was unfortunate on the part of the security forces who have always committed one blunder after another to disturb the environment of peace and security in the state.
He said it was for the hectic efforts of the chief minister Omar Abdullah that a semblance of peace and normalcy was restored in the volatile environment after five long months of protests against human rights violations. He said it was very unfortunate that even after the repeated warnings of the chief minster security forces resort to atrocities in Kashmir.
MLC said that there appears to be a section in the armed forces that are out to harm the environment of peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir. He said these forces are playing in the hands of anti-national elements who use every opportunity to exploit the fragile political situation in Kashmir.
National Conference leader said heavy presence of security forces armed with the harsh laws like armed forces special powers act and disturbed area act was posing a potential threat to the peace. He said that is why the National Conference has been demanding reduction of security forces and repeal of the draconian laws.
