NSF holds protest against JU admin | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu: Feb 7: Continuing with the indefinite protest against the ‘authoritative attitude’, of the Jammu University, members of National Secular Forum (NSF) today held protest against the administration. Demonstration was led by president of forum, Vikas Sharma who alleged that JU administration has failed to solve the problems of the students. Sharma alleged that despite repeated pleas to the officials to take action against the people involved in marks tempering case and the mismanagement in Directorate of Distance Education (DDE), authorities are hushing up the matter. He said that mismanagement can be gauged from the fact that datesheet of the exams for DDE was published in the print media just before three days from the start of the exams, due to which students had to face number of problems. He alleged that officials are shielding corrupt officials of the university. “Though the Governor N N Vohra who is also the Chancellor of Jammu University, has asked for financial audit in the DDE following financial bungling, the Vice Chancellor is least bothered to initiate action against the department,” alleged Sharma. He said that the Vice Chancellor should initiate immediate action against the DDE and order for a comprehensive financial audit to expose the financial bungling committed by the Director in DDE. “Director Meenakshi Kilam, who was a professor and was the director in Internal Quality Assurance Cell, had been appointed as Director DDE under non-transferable post. Her appointment was made in violation of university guidelines,” he charged. Sharma also lashed out at Registrar, Prof P S Pathania for giving a “wrong feedback” to the Governor. “We have apprehensions that the Registrar would send wrong information to the Governor in response to the letter from Raj Bhawan, seeking reply over mass copying, answer sheet tampering and mismanagement in DDE.” the NSF president alleged. Among those who were present in the Protest included, Surjit Choudhary, Ravi Choudhary, Sukdev Singh, Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Deepak, Raman, Namgayl, Ankit, Ravi Kumar, Zulfkar, Sunny Babber and others.
