Universal Academy to hold Hari Singh Karate tourney | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 6: With a sole aim to promote martial art in its true spirit, the Universal Martial Arts Academy has decided to organize Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Karate Championship in the Winter Capital. This was disclosed by general secretary of the Academy, Ambedkar Gupta in an interaction with press here this afternoon. He said, “Martial Arts have been developed more as a sport having both good as well as bad aspects. It is a matter of concern that the spirituality of martial arts is losing its sheen and the toughness level is deteriorating day by day”. Ambedkar, who himself is a renowned trainer of martial art, expressed his desire to set up exclusive infrastructure to train karatekas of national repute. “We are of the opinion to raise exclusive infrastructure for martial arts training in the state by inviting reputed masters of the game,” he maintained. Earlier, president of the Academy, Chander Mohan said, “Our aim is to regain the pride and position of true martial arts by guiding the disciples in right perspective,” He also urged the state government to take measures to promote martial arts. “Encouragement to young trainers of this sport and honour to those who have already excelled at the national level would help in promoting the game,” he said.
