Dhoni, Raina arrive to seek blessings of Vaishno Mata | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 06: Ahead of the 2011 ICC cricket world cup scheduled to begin from February 19, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrived here today to seek the blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi. He was accompanied by his wife and southpaw Suresh Raina, official sources said. Since there was no helicopter service to the holy cave shrine of the goddess due to bad weather conditions today, they stayed in an army
area in the winter capital, the sources added. A police report, however, said they flew back to New Delhi in the aftenoon. The 2011 ICC cricket world cup would be the 10th cricket world cup and would be hosted by three south Asian Test cricket playing countries -- India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. Bangladesh would be for the first time co-hosting a cricket world cup. The first match would be played on February 19 February with India and Bangladesh facing off at the Sher-e-Bangla national stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The opening ceremony would take place on February 17, two days before the start of the tournament. The final match would be played on April 2 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The World Cup was also supposed to be co-hosted by Pakistan, but in the wake of the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team in Lahore, ICC decided to strip Pakistan of its hosting rights.
