Azad's statement irks Soz loyalists | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 6: Though Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ghulam Nabi Azad has refuted that there was any factionalism in Pradesh Congress Committee and maintained that two parallel rallies held on Martyr's day January 30 were organised on the instance of Party High Command but former Chief Minister himself contradicted his statement saying former R&B Minister G.M. Saroori was sacked under conspiracy and Party High Command is contemplating action against Health and Welfare Minister, Sham Lal Sharma a close member of rival faction headed by PCC president Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz. The Statement has annoyed the congressmen owing allegiance to Soz group in congress and they have their total resentment against the outbursts of Mr. Azad. Commenting on the statement of Mr. Azad a senior congress leader in Soz camp on the condition of anonymity said that it was Mr. Azad who had sown the seeds of groupism in State Congress by patronising some leaders to take on the State Party Chief. He said lot of damage was done to the party during the Chief Minister ship of Mr. Azad. It was due to the role of Mr. Azad that Congress leaders who were having ideological differences with him were shown the door from Ministry. He said the party men who had a promising career were cut to size by former Chief Minister during his regime which forced the majority of senior functionaries in PCC to shift their loyalty to Prof. Soz. Mr. Azad's remarks that his close confident G.M. Saroori was stripped off his Cabnet portfolio under a conspiracy has actually put the Soz in a state of shock who allege that statement was made by Union Minister by targeting them. Criticising the statement of Mr. Azad that action would be taken against Sham Lal Sharma who advocated for separate statehood to Jammu, another says that Mr. Azad was unnecessarily trying to create a controversy The groupsim in the party which is increasing day by day will give an undue advantage to NC in consolidating its base, sources added. Sources said during the recent rally, two important Ministers from Jammu including Sham Lal and R.S Chib skipped Azad's rally and attended the one organised by Prof. Soz at Muthi giving indication that their loyalty was for Party and not for any individual how supreme he may be. |
