Over Rs 6 cr to be spent on historical Jamia Masjid | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Feb 7: To restore pristine glory of historical Jamia Masjid , Rs. 6.29 crore are estimated for its face lifting and other renovation and construction works. This was stated by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon today at a joint meeting of Jamia Masjid management committee and divisional level officers. The meeting was attended by Director Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah, CE R&B, DC Srinagar, Joint Director, Floriculture and other senior officers. On this occasion, the Divisional Commissioner was informed that modern shopping complex with facilities of parking and parks would be constructed around the historical Jamia Masjid. He was also informed that Rs. 1.50 crore are being spent on the construction of gate way and the wall of the old courtyard of mosque and the development of the muslim park besides, Rs. 1.20 crore would be spent on installing the street lights, drainage and repair of the lanes and drains. The meeting was also informed that Rs. 53 lakh will be spent on the beautification of Jamia Masjid and Rs. 36 lakh on other developmental works around the Jamia Masjid.
