| JWAM protest against power, water curtailment | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 7: Protest demonstration was held today in spite of heavy rains by the residents of Jammu West Constituency against the poor infra structure of the PDD Department, transformers, feeders, defunct electrification and frequent curtailment of power from 18 to 20 hours per day in the localities Newplot, Sarwal, Rehari, Subhashnagar, Janipur, Bakshinagar, Patoli, Indra Bihar, Talabtillo, Maheshpura, Lakad Mandi, Tophsher Khania.
The people of these localities assembled under the banner of Jammu West Assembly Movement and raised slogans on the Amphalla Janipur Road against the chief engineer PDD, coalition govt. for its failure to provide power and drinking water supplied to the people of the constituency .
Sunil Dimple President Jammu West Assembly Movement alleged that the coalition Govt. led by Omar Abdullah has also the PDD portfolio and has done nothing for the improvement of PDD infra structure of the winter capital Jammu city .
He said the people of Jammu region and particularly the winter capital Jammu city are paying 100% revenue tariff to the Govt. and PDD department and have e -metering but in return people are getting 0% performance and facility through out the year and curtailments , low voltage problem due to defunct under weight capacity transformers , feeders at Janipur grid station and old 20-30 years electrification wiring has created 18-20 hours powers cuts in the Jammu west constituency localities .
The prominent protestants include Hans Raj, Vicky, Vipan, Ishwar Das Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, Varun Sharma, Binny, Jatinder Gupta, Sardar Jod singh, Chunnilal , Sanjay Kumar, Dev Raj, Lajwanti., and many others who took part in the protest .
