| NSF protests “traffic chaos” on Jammu roads. | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 7: National Secular Forum activists today staged protest demonstration in front of Commerce College against the traffic problem in Jammu city.
The activists led by state secretary Sukdev Singh took out procession against the Government for its failure to control traffic problem.
Sukhdev Singh regretting while addressing the protester alleged that the officials concerning department at the helm of the affairs have failed to control traffic problems.
NSF secretary urged upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene and take effective steps to solve the worsening traffic problems in Jammu city and particularly in the Canal Road.
“The proposals regarding construction of flyovers at Jewel Chowk, Bikram Chowk and new circular roads have been hanging fire”, he said while appealing to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take steps for giving practical shape to these proposals.
He demanded construction of four- way circular road from Bikram Chowk to High Court, Janipur and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo to ease traffic rush.
He asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Start the Metro rails in Jammu city and to the adjoining towns of the district.
NSF leader also sought installation of traffic signal lights in the city and to ban the pressure horns and the practice of over- loading.
Among those who were present in the protest included Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Magan Singh, Randeep Singh, Parmveer Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Sunny Sharma, Manipal Singh, Sandeep Singh and others.
