EARLY TIMES REPORT
ANANTNAG, Feb 7: Jammu Kashmir Kisaan Tehreek (JKKT) activists staged a protest demonstration outside Deputy Commissioner’s office here today.
Led by State General Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir Kissan Tehreek Ghulam Nabi Malik, the protestors were raising slogans against price rise, power failure, non-availability of essential commodities and human rights violations. Malik while speaking on the occasion said that economic policies of the government have pushed more than 50 percent of population into extreme poverty and worsened the condition of common people.
He said that non-availability of essential commodities particularly food items has hit people hard. Malik added that farmers, growers and the labourers are the worst hit people. He appealed government to stop human rights violation in the valley. He also demanded hike in the wages of labourers of both organized and unorganized sectors.
