Dogri Sanstha honours Krishna Kumari

JAMMU: Veteran Dogri folk singer, Krishna Kumari was felicitated for having won national Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for her outstanding contribution towards folk music. She was felicitated at a function organized to commemorate the 6th foundation day of Dogri Sanstha.
Noted writer and M.LA, Mohd. Yusuf Taing was the chief guest . A large number of writers, artistes and prominent citizens attended the function.
The highlight of the programme was a music programme in which the local singers namely Apoorva Jamwal, Marina Manhas, Vishal Gupta and Bharat presented Dogri songs composed by famous music composer Brij Mohan.
The day being both foundation day of Dogri Sanstha as well as the auspicious day of Basant Panchmi, there was a spirit of festivity which was accentuated by the melodious and lyrical composition of Dogri Geet written by Yash Sharma, Prof. Tara Nath, Dr Rattan Basotra and Joginder Sharma. The programme started with the Tarana of Dogri Sanstha which is also written composed by Brij Mohan. The audience liked the musical renditions immensely.
Addressing the audience, the chief guest Mohd. Yusuf Taing said that it was very rare that a literary organization continues functioning for 67 years and the activities of which are increasing day by day. He also congratulated Krishna Kumari for the award which she won and also appreciated the contribution she has made to Dogri folk music. He assured full support to the project of construction of Dogri Bhavan Complex which Sanstha has taken up at present.
Earlier Prof. Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha congratulated the audience at the completion of 67 years . He said that Dogri language and literature is facing challenges even today though the nature of the challenges may be different from the times when Dogri Sanstha was formed.
Prof Veena Gupta, general secretary of Dogri Sanstha thanked the audience and shared the information regarding the future programmes of Sanstha.
