Bhalla reviews issues relating to revenue in Budgam | | | Early Times Report Sopore, February 08: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today visited Sopore and on the spot inspected the Mother and Child Hospital, where on his personal intervention, the SOG vacated a building of the Hospital. The Minister had taken this issue with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah immediately yesterday when he arrived in Srinagar. The people of Sopore on this occasion thanked Bhalla and local administration for taking immediate action. The people demanded to upgrade it on the pattern of Lal Ded Hospital Srinagar so that women folk have not rush to Srinagar and other hospitals. Later, the Minister also took stock of the 21 kanals land of cremation ground of Kashmiri Pandit migrants and directed the district administration for taking steps for its protection and their other left properties. The Minister was informed that five kanals of this land has already come under the construction of new bridge and road. Earlier, the Minister convened a meeting of the District Officers which was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, Bashir Ahmed Bhat, SP Sopore, Altaf Ahmed and the senior officers of PHE, Revenue, SDM, Sopore, Police and others. The meeting discussed removing of encroachment from “Gaas Charai” settlement, the matters under Roshni Act, and the adequate water supply to the people of Sopore town. Mr. Bhalla was told that in Achabal, 350 kanals of land out of 1700 kanals and in Shiva 400 kanals of land out of 1900 kanals of ‘Gaas Charai been evicted from the encroachers. Besides, the settlement work is also under progress. He was also informed that there is proposal of Rs. 90 lakh of 1600 ARV Pump for providing adequate drinking water to the people of the town. Besides, old water pipes are being replaced by the new pipes costing Rs.15 crore from Zaingeer to Sopore. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla apprised the Minister of the problems confronting by the department of the shortage of staff and the infrastructure etc. The Minister assured the district administration that there problems would be considered on priority Later, the Minister also visited District Budgam and Chaired a high level meeting attended by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mohammad Rafi, SP Budgam, and senior Officers of the district. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam apprised the Minister that presently the work on 23 projects under centrally sponsored scheme is under progress. He was also informed the construction of the flats for Kashmir Migrants. The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Mr. Mohammad Rafi, SP Budgam, ADC and other senior Officers of the District.
