Jammu roads clogged, traffic management messy | | | Early Times report JAMMU, Feb 8: The entire winter capital is witnessing heavy traffic jams during peak hours on various roads of the city and its outskirts indicating failure of traffic police and concerned authorities to tackle daily routine problems of general public. Canal Road, Akhnoor Road, Janipur-New Plot Road, B.C. road are worst hit. Traffic jams have become a routine affair causing inconvenience to common masses. Recently, traffic police had taken initiative to tackle rising number of road mishaps and launched a website of the traffic police and also opened an account on Facebook but all in vain. Idea behind launching such website and Facebook account was to get suggestions from people on the traffic scenario, but hardly any step has been taken on the suggestions thus received. However, a lot remains to be done at the administrative level in this regard so that the understaffed department could deal with the problem including project of installing electronic traffic signals and making on new flyovers in the state which were still hanging in balance. Vishal Sharma, a private employee said that if there is any proposal for construction of flyovers then why the government is not taking any initiative in this regard. Government should instruct that concerned authorities to start work day and night to overcome the problem otherwise a day will come when there is no space available for pedestrian to move.
