UAC appreciates Academy’s role in conducting ADF | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 9: United Artists Confederation (UAC) has appreciated the concern of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in assuring the conduct of the theatrical event of Annual Drama Festival (ADF) to be held despite many constraints. A delegation of the UAC that met Secretary Zafar Iqbal Manhas few days ago had expressed its desire to participate in the annual drama festival which was alleged to be hanging fire due to the paucity of the funds. The delegation had requested the secretary not to kill the annual feature who in return gave a patient hearing to the members and assured them of holding the feature within stipulated time. The Secretary also assured them of releasing the payment of the annual drama competitions as soon as Academy may receive the funds on that account. However on being apprised about resentment shown by one or two groups not interested in competing in the event until money is not released immediately after the show, Secretary too evinced no interest in keeping them into the consideration saying, “ Whosoever is not interested may remain outside of this arrangement,”. Instructions were passed on to the senior drama instructor Sudhir Mahajan to block feasible dates for the show and carry formalities as soon as possible for the Festival to be held in March Vikram Sharma, president UAC led the delegation which included T S Premee, Kumar A Bharti, Jasmeet Kour, Umesh Singh Jamwal, Shashi Bhushan, Adiyta Bhanu and others. It is pertinent to mention that UAC is a conglomeration of nearly one dozen active theatre groups of the region who participate annually in the Annual Drama festival conducted by JKAACL.
