NPSU protest against govt’s attitude | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb 9: Continuing their struggle against discrimination, National Panther Students Union (NPSU) today held a massive protest demonstration at canal road, Jammu. The protest was held to stress upon the state govt. to regularize the contractual and daily wagers of the different department. The protest was led by Sanjay Sharma (joint Secy NPSU) and Joyti Choudhary (vice president GGM Sc College) where hundreds of the students raised slogans against Higher Education Minister and state govt. They were demanding to regularize all contractual and daily wagers and remove anomalies in the pay scales. Speaking on the occasion Partap Singh Jamwal (provincial president NPSU) said that NC-Cong led state govt. has totally failed in addressing the grievances and this failure will definitely lead them to a huge loss. This govt. is working on such polices which are totally against the govt. employees whether they are regular, contractual or daily wagers. He further demanded that as per present criteria teaching assistant in the colleges is getting Rs. 8000 and lecturer is getting Rs. 12000 which should be enhanced to Rs. 15,600 and Rs. 21,600 as basic salary respectively. He also blamed the concerned authorities for putting a heavy work load on contractual teacher assistant /lecturer by forcing them to take 6 lectures instead of 4 lectures daily. This will again lead to the growth of unemployment as near about 1700 contractual lecturers / teacher assistant working at present will be reduced to nearly 547 total contractual lecturer/ teacher assistant. National Panther Students Union (NPSU) will never allow state govt. to frame and implement such policies which are anti Jammu, anti Govt employees, anti contractual lecturers / teacher assistant or anti daily wagers. Other who were present in this protest include Amandeep Singh (Jt. Secy NPSU), Deepak Sharma, Arun Sharma, Dalbir Singh Chib, Rahul Sharma, Bhupinder Singh, Vikas, Balak Ram Chib (vice president Akhnoor Tehsil), Sandeep Manhas, Nitin Chib, and Rahul Verma
