HC dismisses KAS writ petitions, asks PSC to go ahead with selections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Feb -09:- The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir today dismissed the writ petition titled Kuldeep Kumar and Ors V/S State & Ors and other 19 connected writ petitions filed against Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission regarding KAS-2009. In an important judgement, Justice Sunil Hali today granted permission to Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission to go ahead with the selection process for CCE-2009 after dismissing the writ petitions. The Court observed that the contentions of the petitions being misconceived are dismissed. Senior Advocate D.C Raina assisted by F.A.Natnoo appearing on behalf of Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission pleaded for dismissal of the writ petitions filed by some candidates belonging to reserved categories having felt aggrieved after the declaration of KAS-2009 (Mains) results in September last. Earlier, hearings were held on January 12, 14, 24 and 25 at J&K High Court, Jammu during which Raina defended the criteria adopted by the Commission for shortlisting the candidates for interview which was in tune with the reservation policy and also SRO-387 of 208 dated Dec 1, 2008 governing conduct of CCE-2009. Raina has also appeared on behalf of the Commission in several writ petitions filed against the Commission during the first two phases of the ongoing selection process, facilitating their prompt dismissal that helped the Commission to complete the process as per schedule.
