Annual day function celebrated

Jammu , Feb 9: Alexander Memorial School today celebrated an annul day ‘Guzaarish’ at J&K Police Auditorium University Road , here today.
Minster for Industries, Surjit Singh Salathia was the chief guest and Rt Rev. P.K Samantaroy, Bishop of the Diocese of Amritsar, CNI, was the guest of honour. Archdeacon of Bisrmingham (UK), Venerable Hayward Osborn, Principal of various Diocesan Schools and prestigious institutions of Jammu graced the occasion. The auditorium was jam packed by the parents of the students who evinced keen interest in the function.
The programme started with customary bouquet presentation and traditional lighting of the lamp followed by a prayers song, Saraswati Vandna and community action song by the tiny tots.
The students presented a variety of cultural programmes comprising a Scottish Dance prepared by 3 estonians form the UK Sympony, Dogri Dance & Rajasthani Dance. The theme of the programme ‘Guzaarish’ was highlighted by reciting poems ‘Bachpan’, ‘Aam Aadmi’ and ‘Brashtachar’. The grand finale of the theme was a contemporary dance which befitted the socio- educational trends of the society and conveyed the all important message in very lucid terms, leaving the audience in self-introspection and re-evaluation of their priorities and responsibilities.
Earlier, the principal Esther William, in her report highlighted various milestones overtaken by the students in academics & sports, scouting and camping, tours and treks, social and community service and various cultural and co-curricular activities during the current academic session.
The auditorium resounded with lusty cheers during the Prize Distribution Ceremony.
The Chief Guest in his speech applauded the efforts put in the school for the all round development of the students.
The whole programme was compered by a number of students and the vote of thanks was presented by T.N Koul, Senior Master.
The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
