Omar inspects Jagti Township

JAMMU, Feb 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inspected construction of Migrant Township at Jagti and got brief about the status of construction of flats and allied facilities.
Chief Minister inspected different blocks, interacted with the engineering and other officials and gave direction for fast tracking works. Jagti Township near Nagrota envisages construction of 4218 two-room flats for Kashmiri migrants besides facilities for 40-bedded hospital, one higher secondary, one middle school and two community halls. The work on the construction of flats is on advanced stage. All the flats are likely to be completed by March 2011 end.
Under the Prime Minister’s Reconstruction Plan (PMRP) the ambitious project for constructing 5242 two-room tenements at a cost of Rs. 345 crore was taken in hand which was finally revised to Rs. 385 crores. Under the first Phase of the project as many as 1024 flats have already been constructed at Purkhoo, Muthi and Nagrota which stand allotted to the beneficiaries. Of the total flats constructed 256 flats are at Purkhoo, 384 at Muthi and 384 at Nagrota.
Remaining 4218 two-room tenements complex at Jagti was launched under the second phase of the project and is likely to be completed by end of March 2011. An amount of Rs. 278 .28 crores have been incurred on the construction works by the end of December 2010. The physical status of the project envisages construction of 176 blocks with 4218 flats in 6 zones.
Chief Minister stressed on time line completion of the township so that the flats are allotted to the beneficiaries without any further delay. He also directed for timely completion of roads and other basic amenities in the township. Earlier, the Chief Minister laid foundation of a Church Hall near Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan on Eidgah road here.
Minister for Revenue and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, Minister of State for Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Devender Singh Rana, Secretary Revenue, Ejaz Iqbal, Commissioner Relief and Rehabilitation, Vinod Koul were accompanying the Chief Minister.
