Chib stresses on strict implementation of MCI norms | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 9: Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib chaired a meeting convened to workout modalities for implementation of Medical Council of India (MCI) rules in toto in the Medical Colleges of the state. Minister of State for Medical Education Javid Ahmad Dar was also present in the meeting. Addressing the meeting, Chib stressed on strict implementation of MCI norms in all medical colleges of the state. He said that MCI being highest regulatory body for medical education in the country works out norms to raise standard of medical education, adding that implementation of these norms was must to improve efficiency of medical colleges. Minister directed the concerned for preparing detailed proposal indicating year wise position of faculty in the current pay band and annual financial implication to adopt MCI pattern fully. It was decided in the meeting that MCI norms will be implemented in the State in letter and spirit to improve standard of medical education and produce doctors of high caliber and efficiency. Among others, Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education Dr. R. K. Jerath, Secretary, Law, G. H. Tantray, Director, Codes, Dr. Mohammad Ishaq, Director, Health Services, Jammu Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu Dr. Rajinder Singh, Principal, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Dr. Farida Mir, Principal, Government Dental College, Jammu Dr. Riyaz Farooq, besides senior officers of the line department attended the meeting.
