Skill development, priority of government: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb 9: Describing education as one of the priority sectors, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that focused attention is being paid to upgrade infrastructure and to equip education institutes with most modern facilities. He said that various schemes have been launched to provide better education facilities to those living in rural and far-off areas of the state. “Our aim is to provide best facilities to the school students and on the other attention needs to be paid on skill development and promotion of various job oriented vocational course to groom young generation as per needs of the job market,” he added. Tara Chand said this while addressing annual day function of Government Higher Secondary School, Dori-Dager. Deputy Chief Minister also laid foundation of an additional block of the school. The six room double storey block would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 48.60 lacs and have facilities of recreation room, toilet and kitchen. On the occasion, Tara Chand distributed certificates to those candidates who have completed six month long vocational courses, under special capacity building programme of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The programme is being jointly conducted by Centre for Adult, Continuing and Extension Education, University of Jammu and an NGO Peace. Later, Tara Chand inaugurated a photo gallery at Baba Mai Mal Devsthal. The gallery exhibits works of those students who had been trained under the special capacity building programme.
