| CCI agitated on whimsical attitude of JKTDC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Feb 10: Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu is greatly agitated on the dictatorial anti-trade & whimsical attitude of the Managing Director JKTDC, TRC Jammu who is hell bent upon circumventing the rent deed drawn by JKTDC with shopkeepers for the said JKTDC Shops situated at TRC Jammu into lease deed against all cannons of law. Managing Director JKTDC Jammu needs to be reminded that under rent deed agreement a fixed amount is charged as monthly rent for the property offered on rent irrespective of the area concerned, whereas a lease based property the lessor charge on the basis of area leased.
In the present case the agreement drawn by JKTDC clearly states that the shops were allotted to the tenants at Rs. 170/- as rent per shop per month.
Subsequently in the year 1982 the rent was enhanced to Rs. 200/- per shop per month which was later again enhanced to Rs. 600/- per month per shop on 1stOctober 2000.
Chamber hopes the wisdom & logic shall dawn on the Managing Director JKTDC and will desist from harassing shopkeepers who have been regularly paying their monthly rent.
People of Jammu have resisted and foiled all attempts by forces inimical to peace in the region and have ensured that Jammu which is visited by millions of pilgrims to Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board remain calm and peaceful.
Managing Director JKTDC is advised not to foment unrest by resorting to illegal acts of treating rent deed agreement as lease deed for fixing exorbitant rates.
