PDP criticizes apathetic attitude of coalition towards welfare of people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Rajouri, Feb 10: Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan has strongly criticized the apathetic attitude of the present coalition government towards the welfare of the people and development of the state. In a press release Shahzad Khan that the much highlighted schemes under the Bharat Nirman Yojna are being exploited only in papers. The rural electrification under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidhyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) is not being implemented as claimed by the government. Enquiring upon the expenditure of a huge sum amounting to Rs.821.62 Crores in the state for upgradation of power facilities under the RGGVY, Shahzad said that where has all the money gone? The rural employment scheme under the MNERGA is too being exploited by the authorities. He said that the people who are actually in need of employment under this scheme have to shell out a prescribed amount to get the job cards made in their names. Besides, Shahzad said that the wages are distributed in fake names of labourers, fake muster rolls and fake job cards. He further said that jobs and goods are only in papers, low quality goods are used and payments of wages are often late. Shahzad also said that the funds under the MNERGA are being spent on other works. Lambasting the condition of health sector in the state, Shahzad said that the hospitals at district level are poorly equipped besides there is also scarcity of doctors leave alone specialists. The Primary Health Centres also are understaffed while medicines are not available at the PHC’s and district hospitals. Despite getting regular help from the centre under the NRHM proper use of funds is not being done by the present coalition government. The recruitment of female multipurpose workers in Rajouri district was concentrated only in Nowshera and Kalalote blocks while the rest of the disrict has been left out. Besides, last year the Health Mela was held in Sunderbani which was mere eyewash. There was huge embezellment of funds and in this regard Shahzad himself had sought the records under RTI Act but the reply is still pending despite a number of reminders. The Chief Minister has been claiming of corruption free government but despite all his tall claims, the level of corruption is increasing. The CM’s Grievance Cell is literally defunct while the third party appointed to monitor the quality, status and progress of various projects and scheme works placed by the present coalition government has also failed to do so. Expressing his regret over the level of corruption, he has requested the central government to step in and check the disease of corruption by appointing the much reliable CBI team to investigate into developmental works being carried out in the state so that the funds and schemes meant for the common people do not go to the kitty of the government authorities. |
