BJP seeks empowerment of Panchayats | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 10: BJP will take up many issues of public importance in the ensuing session of the state Legislature including grant of political reservation to Gujjar-Bakarwals, creation of eight assembly seats for displaced persons from PoK, citizenship rights for Pak refugees and empowerment of Panchayats. This was assured by leader of the BJP legislators party Chaman Lal Gupta while responding to the problems raised by the activists of Gujjar, Bakerwal, displaced persons from PoK and refugees from Pakistan. Gupta said that NC, Congress and some other leaders have been exploiting poor Gujjar, Bakerwal and other sections of the society by raising sentimental, religious and other slogans. Gupta also pointed out that 24 Assembly seats have been reserved in the state constitution for the people of Pak held areas but it was intriguing that no representation has been ensured for the lakhs of people. BJP would raise this issue again in the assembly despite opposition by Congress and NC, who masquerade as secularists but their actual actions do not match with the ground realities. Meanwhile Prof. Gupta also visited Bhagwati Nagar along with party activists and laid foundation stone for construction of community hall near cremation ground, failing under his constituency. Rajesh Gupta , N D Rajwal, Krishal Lal Gupta, Pushpa Wazir, Parmodh Kapahi, Pradhuman Singh, Kulbhushan Mohtra, Ayodhya Gupta and Ashok Dadheechi were also present on the occasion.
