Rather appreciates contribution of contractors in infrastructure development | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 10: Lauding role of Contractors Community in building basic infrastructure, Minister for Finance Abdul Rahim Rather today assured that government would take all possible measures to mitigate their genuine problems on administrative front to pave way for creating a congenial working atmosphere for them. Interacting with members of J&K Central Contractors Coordination Committee, Kashmir, which called on him here at Civil Secretariat today, Rather said that contractors in addition to earning their livelihood also provide jobs to labour class and contribute in building of assets. He said that genuine suggestions and views presented by the contractors would be suitably accommodated in the New Year’s budget proposals with focus on removing all administrative wrangles confronting the community. He said every possible measure would be taken to simplify the procedures to ensure timely payments in treasuries and filing of tax returns. Rather said that contractors serve as an important bridge between the Government and people in carrying on the development process and converting the blue prints into real assets and better services for the masses and implementing projects and schemes on ground. Terming the interaction with contractors a good beginning towards redressal of the genuine grievances at a right time, Rather said that suggestions of the community has come at an appropriate time as the pre-budget exercise was in progress. Asking the contractors to work with social commitment, Mr. Rather assured that wrangles in the way of timely payments would be removed and steps initiated to safeguard their interests with dignity.
