JWAM blocks road over foodgrains shortage in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Feb, 11: Alleging short supply of foodgrains at CAPD run stores, Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) blocked Amphalla-Janipur road and demanded ration supply should be streamlined. Speaking on the occasion, president of the movement, Sunil Dimple said that people were facing a problem due to non availability of ration as CAPD had failed to supply ration to the people. “There is shortage of flour, rice and sugar at the shops and despite pleas to the department, nothing has been done to ensure proper supply”, Dimple said. Protesters also burnt the effigies of CAPD and demanded action against the hoarders and black marketers, who have allegedly dumped food grain which has created scarcity in the market. “It is strange that despite the claims of the authorities that enough supply has been released in the city, people are still facing the problems. We demand strong action be taken against the people who are dumping the ration”, said Dimple. JKWM also appealed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to hold inquiry in the distribution of ration for BPL card holders in the state particularly in Jammu region.
“We have received reports that people were not getting ration on time and shopkeepers simply tell them that there is no ration. Number of families have to suffer due to this”, he alleged.
Dimple announced that a "vishal protest rally" will be held on February 13, against the apathy of the government towards the plight of the people. Those who spoke on the occasion include, Raj Kumar Gupta, Ram Kapoor, O P Jandiyal, Kulbir Singh, Sham Saroop Gupta, Sushant Sharma, Rakesh, Vipan, Mukesh and Kulwant Sharma.
