| Jatt’s demand OBC status, stage dharna, present memo to Governor | | | JAMMU NOV-10 Jatt Youth Federation today staged a dharna in front of Governor’s House to protest against the Government’s failure to grant OBC status to the community. They also submitted a memorandum to the Governor listing its demands, which included grant of OBC status, representation in legislature, PSC and SSRB to the community members. The protestors said that though the Centre has already granted this status to the community across the country, but the people living in Jammu and Kashmir have been deprived of this facility. The dharna organized under the leadership of Manjeet Singh Jatt expressed serious concern for neglecting the Jatt community in every sphere. Addressing the protestors, Manjeet Singh said that the much awaited demanded of Jatt community to grant OBC, construction of a Jatt Hostel were still pending although these were taken up with the authorities a number of times. He said that the community be given the OBC status on the pattern of Rajasthan and Utter Pradesh States. The speakers also demanded promotion of agriculture and dairy farming sectors as majority of the Jammu community are engaged with this avocation. Prominent among those who took part in the dharna included Satnam Singh, Ravinder Singh, Sunil Choudhary, Rajesh Choudhary, Meharban Singh, Ashu Choudhary, Harpal Singh Kulbeer Choudhary, Manjeet Singh Sarkaria, Parveen Choudhary,Amit, Ankush, Shjallu and Palli.
